Wrapping up the first quarter of 2018, Tesla struggled and failed to meet its weekly production target of 2,500 Tesla Model 3. According to Elon Musk, “Excessive automation at Tesla was a mistake. To be precise, my mistake. Humans are underrated.”
Initially, automation was thought to keep up with production. The delay has forced Musk to take over control of production, starting the second quarter of 2018. Musk’s committed to solving this production delay. So much so that he is spending nights sleeping at the factory.
Tesla just announced it is temporarily pausing the Model 3 production at its Fremont, CA plant. A Tesla rep said, “These periods are used to improve automation and systematically address bottlenecks in order to increase production rates.”
This is the second time this year that Tesla has temporarily suspended its Model 3 production.
Do you think Tesla will ever be able to meet the projected production numbers?
