Earned, not given.

The full story — from a first job at UPS to a portfolio of businesses across energy, home services, and capital.

Abe Issa's story doesn't start in a boardroom. It starts with a high-school job at UPS, where he was promoted to supervisor within six months — early proof of a pattern that would define his career: outwork the room, earn the next step, repeat.

The clean energy years

In 2010, Abe launched his first clean energy company on a conviction that renewable energy would only reach American households if it were sold, installed, and financed with the professionalism of a national consumer business. Over the following decade he founded and scaled companies across residential solar, energy storage, and smart home technology — building teams, creating jobs, and earning industry recognition along the way, including a 2024 Inc. 5000 placement for growth with Intelli Smart Homes, where he serves as an investor and advisor.

Lessons that shaped the operator

Fifteen years of building companies includes chapters of every kind — rapid growth, hard markets, disputes resolved and lessons learned. Abe is candid that the difficult chapters shaped him as much as the wins: they made him a more disciplined operator, more selective about partners, and more focused on businesses with durable fundamentals.

Grid Energy Group and today

Today, as founder of Grid Energy Group, Abe invests in and advises companies across six connected verticals: national home services, solar and storage, roofing, lending and mortgage, real estate, and finance. The thesis is simple — the businesses a household depends on are stronger together — and the standard is the same one set at UPS: earn it.

Abe writes on entrepreneurship and energy as a contributor to Entrepreneur, and is an active philanthropist focused on clean energy access, education, and community relief.
